Congratulations to Practical Nursing students Shalia Davis and Kateri Moore, who were both recently nominated for the September 2026 Sunflower Awards. In a special twist, these two classmates nominated each other without the other knowing!

Shalia and Kateri are both in their third semester of the part-time evening/weekend Practical Nursing Program at CCCTC. They were nominated in recognition of their compassion, dedication to exceptional patient care, and willingness to go above and beyond to support their patients and those around them.

Kateri shared these kind words about Shalia in her nomination:

“Shalia always goes the extra mile for every patient she encounters. She exhibits immense amounts of compassion to everyone, including faculty, facility staff, classmates and patients. She demonstrates a dedication to patient care that is very admirable and will make an excellent LPN.”

Shalia had equally kind words for Kateri:

“Kateri is very knowledgeable, patient with extremely high standards regarding patient care. She goes above and beyond to help her patients.”

The sunflower symbolizes happiness, optimism, honesty, peace, admiration, and devotion. These are wonderful qualities for future nurses to demonstrate as they care for their patients and support their fellow students.

The Sunflower Awards recognize students whose kindness, compassion, and dedication make a positive difference in the lives of others. We are proud to see Shalia and Kateri recognizing these important qualities in each other!
