Congratulations to Practical Nursing student Abigail Welker, known as Abbi, who was recently nominated for the September 2026 Sunflower Award by two of her classmates, Emily Kurtz and Brooke Spaulding, as well as recent Practical Nursing graduates Taylor Billings and Alexandria Brosky.

Abbi is in her third semester of the part-time day Practical Nursing Program at CCCTC. She was nominated in recognition of her dedication to providing exceptional patient care, supporting her fellow students, and consistently going above and beyond expectations.

Her classmates shared these kind words in their nominations:

“Abbi is a great advocate for our class and is always helpful whenever we need her. She inspires us to be better nurses and she gives exceptional patient care.”

“She’s always spreading joy, thinking about others, and keeping a smile on her face. She’s the biggest sweetheart and fit’s the definition of a sunflower completely.”

The sunflower symbolizes happiness, optimism, honesty, peace, admiration, and devotion. These are all wonderful qualities for future nurses to demonstrate as they care for their patients and support those around them.

The Sunflower Award recognizes students whose kindness, compassion, and dedication make a positive difference in the lives of others. We are proud to see Abbi's caring spirit and commitment to nursing recognized!
