Students in Mrs. Saggese’s Health Occupations Technology class recently welcomed Jenny Crawford, BSN, RN, NW Region Stroke Coordinator from Penn Highlands Healthcare, for an informative presentation on stroke awareness.
Jenny discussed stroke statistics and the differences in stroke risk between men and women. Students learned about common risk factors, warning signs, prevention strategies and the importance of recognizing stroke symptoms quickly. She also emphasized the importance of seeking immediate medical attention when a stroke is suspected and how early treatment can make a significant difference in patient outcomes.
Presentations like this give our Health Occupations students the opportunity to learn directly from healthcare professionals while gaining a better understanding of the real world experiences and responsibilities they may encounter in their future careers.
