Practical Nursing student Trinity Inguagiato was one of two students recently nominated for the May 2026 Sunflower Award by her classmate, Elizabeth "Lizzie" Flory. Trinity is currently in her third semester of the full-time CCCTC Practical Nursing Program. She was nominated in recognition of her commitment to going above and beyond in the care of her patients and for the support she provides to fellow students, staff members, and the community.

Lizzie shared the following in her nomination:

"She always brightens up the room, is willing to help, and always has a smile! She is the epitome of a sunflower, and I love watching her bloom!"

The sunflower was chosen as the symbol of this award because it represents happiness, optimism, honesty, longevity, peace, admiration, and devotion. The sunflower surpasses all others in its universal ability to bring people joy. These are qualities that future nurses strive to possess and demonstrate in their care of patients. Students may be nominated by fellow students, patients, instructors, or anyone who has been touched and inspired by their work, kindness, compassion, and dedication.
