The Health Occupations Technology students at CCCTC recently took an exciting step in their training as they completed their first day of clinicals at Penn Highlands Clearfield. This hands-on experience marks an important milestone, giving students the opportunity to apply their classroom knowledge in a real healthcare setting.
Throughout the day, students explored various departments within the hospital, gaining a broader understanding of the many career paths available in healthcare. Some students even had the chance to visit the dietary department, where they learned about the important role nutrition plays in patient care and recovery.
In addition to observing and learning from healthcare professionals, students also experienced the compassionate side of patient care by interacting with the hospital’s therapy dog. This moment highlighted the impact of emotional support and comfort in a clinical environment, reinforcing the importance of treating the whole patient.
Students demonstrated professionalism, curiosity, and enthusiasm as they engaged with staff and embraced new experiences. Their first clinical day provided valuable insight into the fast-paced healthcare environment and helped build confidence as they continue their journey toward careers in the medical field.
We are proud of our students for representing CCCTC so well and look forward to seeing their continued growth throughout their clinical rotations.
