Students in the Practical Nursing program at CCCTC are currently practicing in the SIM lab, working through a high-stakes, real-world scenario. The current “patient” is experiencing a morphine overdose with respiratory depression. Students are problem-solving each step of care, including assessing the patient, taking and monitoring vital signs, recognizing signs of opioid overdose, administering Narcan, providing respiratory support, and communicating effectively as a healthcare team. This hands-on simulation helps students build critical thinking, clinical decision-making, and confidence before entering real patient care settings.
