Students in Tonya Saggese’s Health Occupations Technology program at CCCTC are gaining essential hands on experience in patient care by learning the fundamentals of continuous feeding and proper patient positioning.

During this lesson, students were divided into small groups and given specific feeding and positioning scenarios to complete. Each group was responsible for demonstrating correct techniques, including ensuring patient comfort, maintaining safety, preventing aspiration, and following proper infection control procedures.

Through this interactive activity, students practiced critical real world skills such as teamwork, communication, problem solving, and attention to detail. These are all vital in healthcare environments. The lesson helps prepare students to confidently transition into clinical settings, where precise feeding techniques and correct positioning play a major role in patient recovery, comfort, and overall well being.

Hands on training like this is a core component of CCCTC’s Health Occupations Technology program, ensuring students graduate with both the knowledge and the practical skills needed for successful careers in the healthcare field.
