Joey Woodring, a student in the Digital Media Arts program at the Clearfield County Career and Technology Center (CCCTC), recently completed a creative project focused on long exposure and light painting photography. This unit gave students a chance to explore how light, motion, and time can combine to create compelling visual effects.

As part of the lesson, Joey and his classmates experimented with various light sources and camera settings, learning how small adjustments could dramatically change the outcome of a photo. Each student developed a personalized theme and created a shot list to bring their concept to life.

The project didn’t stop with photography. Students used Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom to enhance and fine-tune their images. They then assembled their visuals into a custom video, incorporating keyframe animations, transitions, background music, and sound effects to elevate the final product.

While every student worked from the same assignment guidelines, Joey’s video stood out with his unique artistic interpretation and editing choices, demonstrating how technical skills can be combined with creativity to produce professional-quality work.

This project is just one example of how CCCTC’s Digital Media Arts program prepares students for real-world media production by giving them opportunities to explore, experiment, and express their individual styles.
